North east India, Nepal, Bhutan is center of Buddhism and its various sects. There are more than 400 monasteries each has its own history and uniqueness. They were built during the 16th and 17th century and are still maintained. Sikkim is the centre of all Buddhist activities and can be well imagined that a small state with the least population has the highest number of monastery in India.
